Longsight Library is a heart of the community type of library. Loved by the local community, Longsight Library is also a Creative Space library (lots of cultural events and activities) and currently applying to become a Library of Sanctuary celebrating the work that we do with Sanctuary Seekers. Find us on Facebook: @LongsightLibrary.
We have celebrated International Mother Language Day for four consecutive years, and it still is one of our favourite activities. Our events bring together the local community and partner organisations for an afternoon of all things language. We rightly celebrate the diversity of the communities local to the library as well as the wider city. We’ve been working closely with the Bangladeshi Saturday School and Stanley Grove Primary Academy since we started, and every year they bring their young folk along to perform traditional dance and poetry.
