One of Manchester’s longest running spoken word and new writing events is back at The King’s Arms, Salford on Monday 28th October !

Verbose brings a vibrant mix of spoken word and live literature from a talented bill of open mic acts and two wonderful headliners every month. Expect poetry, prose and everything in between on a night with a real community vibe that gladly welcomes all newcomers.

Meet the headliners! Shak & Chanje Kunda

Shak has performed at events such as: Queensland national poetry slam, We out here festival, Commonwealth games festival & much more.

Facilitator –

Shak has a teaching degree, hosted live poetry events, writers groups & much more,

Project manager –

Shak has produced over 50 poetry videos with the community, produced audiobooks, directed theatre productions & much more.

A human –

Shak is engaged to an amazing woman, his current purpose in life is focused on living a healthy lifestyle, currently works as a housing officer helping the homeless secure their own

Chanje Kunda is a poet, playwright and performance artist. She creates autobiographically inspired art about how the personal interlinks with the political. Exploring 21st century life, she aims to use art to transform lives, shift consciousness and bring hope to an otherwise stressful modern existence.

Recent creative commissions have been received from Manchester International Festival and the Imperial War Museum. UK performance highlights include features at The Royal Albert Hall, the Southbank and the Royal Exchange, in addition to touring arts centres and festivals throughout the country .
