Museum of Colour with support from Manchester Poetry Library
Hosted at Manchester Poetry Library, the launch will feature live music from acclaimed guitarist and composer Aziz Ibrahim (Simply Red, The Stone Roses, Dennis Brown, Manchester Camerata Orchestra) and a special performance co-curated by Keisha Thompson, poet, CEO and Artistic Director, Contact Theatre. You will also hear the words of four 18th and 19th century poets of colour performed by their contemporaries.
Artists confirmed – more to be announced My Words: The Launch image The launch will be followed by a joyous liming session when you will be the first to preview the My Words digital exhibition accompanied by a DJ set.
Book your place now in advance of the full line up and final programme, which will be announced on Tuesday 30th August 2022.
Collaborating organisations include Royal Albert Memorial Museum, British Library and Manchester Poetry Library. The project is funded by Arts Council England, National Heritage Lottery Fund and the Foyle Foundation.
Museum of Colour has hosted two successful exhibitions, People of Letters and Respect Due which are available at museumofcolour.org.uk. People of Letters amplified individuals who have supported writers of colour while Respect Due was its COVID-19 response exhibition, paying respect to nominated individuals from the arts, journalism and heritage organisations.
