We will then hear readings from our shortlisted entrants and some words from key speakers before the announcement of the winners for the categories of Flash Fiction and Flash Non-Fiction. The evening is to celebrate our new winners of the 2024 prize and also in honour of Dave Murray’s memory and achievements. Please join us for this exciting evening awards ceremony.
About the Prize
Organised by the Manchester Writing School and Manchester School of Theatre at Manchester Metropolitan University, the QuietManDave Prize celebrates short-form writing and the life of someone who loved to experience new places, art and events and write about them. The Prize offers awards of £1,000* for Flash Fiction and £1,000* Flash Non-Fiction as well as runner-up prizes.
About QuietManDave
Dave Murray entertained and informed many through his quietmandave blog. He was a keen theatre critic, performed poetry at open mic sessions and loved flash fiction. He embraced writing relatively late in life but did so with a passion. The QuietManDave Prize, named in honour of his memory and achievements, will seek to enable and promote new writing. The QuietManDave Prize has been supported through the generosity of family and friends of Dave.
