An Invitation To Indian Cooking, presented by the Manchester Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University.
A celebration of Anjum Malik’s radio drama series inspired by the cookbook An Invitation to Indian Cooking, by Madhur Jaffrey.
Join Anjum Malik, Senior Lecturer in the Manchester Writing School at Manchester Met, for a mouth-watering evening of drama and discussion. Leading dramatist Anjum Malik has used this iconic cookbook to create a drama series charting how the book came about but, just as importantly, mapping Ms Jaffrey’s acting career, from her childhood love of acting, through training at RADA, and on to her success in global cinema, winning the Silver Bear for Best Actress for her performance in Shakespeare Wallah, at the Berlin Film Festival in 1965.
We will have juicy extracts of the series to be played to whet your appetite together with invited questions by the audience and a talk with Anjum by Andrew McMillan about the series.
Date and time: Friday 19th March 2021, 7-8pm
Location: Online via Microsoft Teams
Tickets: FREE – book via EventBrite and a link to join the Teams session will be emailed to you shortly before the event
