His elegant, hilarious and insightful memoir My Roman Year chronicles that time, including the social and political forces that shaped him. André will also discuss his atmospheric new novel The Gentleman from Peru, in which a group of college friends, marooned on the Amalfi Coast while their boat is repaired, meet a mysterious man who regales them with a story of regret, fate and epic love.
André is the New York Times bestselling author of nine books including Enigma Variations, Find Me and Call Me By Your Name, which was turned into a film by Luca Guadagnino, starring Timothée Chalamet. He is the editor of the Proust Project and teaches comparative literature at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Presented in partnership with Waterstones Deansgate.
