About this event
A one-day workshop with local bookbinder Barry Clark in which we will make an A6 crossed structure notebook – a useful, non-adhesive binding developed by Carmencho Arregui. The text block is sewn directly onto the binding which could be card, leather or a number of other materials. Our notebook will have a hand-marbled paper for the front cover, with a textile book cloth for the rear. There are many variations possible using this structure, so by learning the essentials you will be able to experiment with further designs at home should you wish. All materials and tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own favourite craft tools if you have them. We will not be using glue so no protective apron is required. The fee includes the cost of materials, tea/coffee on arrival and a light lunch. This workshop is limited to 10 participants so early booking is advised.
