Poet, playwright and educator Gillian Clarke is one of the most acclaimed and widely read poets of recent decades. In this workshop, she will share insights into the craft of poetry, and how to bend language into original and musical verse. Gillian is the former National Poet of Wales and president of the Ty Newydd writers’ centre which she co-founded in 1990. She has published nine collections of poetry with Carcanet including The Silence and Zoology. Presented in partnership with Centre for New Writing and Creative Manchester.
This workshop is aimed at practising poets and is FREE to attend but places are very limited.
How to apply for a place:
To apply for a place on the workshop please send an email with your name and contact phone number and attach three sample poems that you feel represent your work. The email should be headed ‘Gillian Clarke Poetry Masterclass’ and sent to john@carcanet.co.uk between Monday 23 September and Sunday 29 September. You will be notified by email in early October if you have been allocated a place.
