Manchester Poetry Library
Manchester Poetry Library presents a worksop as part of the Poetry Translation Centre’s mini-series exploring the most exciting contemporary Kazakh poets.
Through December and January there will be sessions taking a close look at six contemporary Kazakh poets, in partnership with the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the UK.
This session will focus on Temirkhan Medetbek. His most notable collection Kôk tùrikter saryny (Melodies of the Kok Turks, 2002) describes modern and contemporary issues in the form of ancient Turkic psalms of the seventh and eighth centuries.
The workshop will be led by UK poet Jon Stone and guest translator Assiya Issemberdiyeva.
