The Poetry Club of Instituto Cervantes in Manchester and Leeds, under the coordination of Professor Diana Cullell (University of Liverpool), is launching a new series of readings dedicated to the “Spanish Poetry Awards.” This Club offers our students the opportunity to explore prominent figures in contemporary Spanish poetry, such as Joan Margarit, Olvido García Valdés, Pilar Pallarés, and Luis García Montero.

In each session, participants will be able to immerse themselves in the work of a poet through the reading of their poems, presented in both Spanish and English. Professor Cullell will enrich the experience with her commentary, creating a participatory space where all attendees can share their insights into the meanings of the poems.

The next session will focus on the work of Eduardo Moga, author of several books of poems; one of them, La luz oída, earned him the Adonáis Poetry Prize in 1995, and with Insumisión he received the International Latino Book Award in the United States in 2014. He has an extensive body of work in narrative, anthologies, translation, and poetry, with collections such as Muerte y amapolas en Alexandra Avenue, Tú no morirás, Bajo la piel, los días, and his most recent Ser de incertidumbre.
Join us to explore and share the richness of Spanish poetry in this fascinating literary journey!
