Developed with Gypsy & Traveller youth, Queenie and the Pooka tells the story of a Traveller girl with a wild imagination. She dreams of exploring the world as a famous dancer and musician, telling tales of Traveller folk through her talents.
Unfortunately for Queenie, her parents don’t approve, because of a mysterious family tale. Little does she know, a shape-shifting Pooka is trapped in the trailer – and this mischievous faerie has plans for an adventure.
This mesmerising tale uses dance, live music and object theatre to capture the imaginations of big and little kids alike to tell a story of acceptance and following your heart, whilst celebrating Gypsy Traveller culture and lifestyles.
The work has been made with Gypsy, Roma, Traveller Communities, but it has been created to be enjoyed by families of all kinds, regardless of their background or beliefs, and everyone is welcome.
The performance is most suitable for children aged 3 – 12, and their parents/carers. Booking is not required.
