As part of their joint Islington Mill artist residency, musicians LIE NING & Lavender Rodriguez will be hosting an intimate writing workshop right in the Islington Mill space. The workshop is free and open to queer bipoc writers at all levels – even if you’ve never really written much before! It will be facilitated by Out on the Page.

We will think, discuss and write together, think about how this writing could then be translated into music and share experiences in a safe, community-based space. The workshop lasts 3h (6-9pm), food & drinks will be provided.

There are 10 spaces only, so please reserve your spot here in advance. If you have any questions, concerns or access needs, please don’t hesitate to reach out to klang.manc@gmail.com

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

LIE NING: Growing up in Berlin, LIE NING was exposed to a mixture of languages, images and melodies from an early age on, creating an interest for dance, fashion and fine arts. Music especially. They create intense pop-moments and emotional pictures in dreamy landscapes that got sharp edged. Stopping by on their current European “slow tour”, they will be collaborating with a variety of local Manchester artists, first and foremost: Lavender Rodriguez.

LAVENDER RODRIGUEZ: Manchester based, Hampshire grown Lavender Rodriguez explores afro-futuristic sounds, spinning plates of afrobeat, alternative soul/RnB and electronic dance music simultaneously. Their music celebrates the intersectionality of queerness, mixed race and life experience of what was before and what’s to come.
