The Portico Sadie Massey Awards
THE PORTICO SADIE MASSEY AWARDS NOW ACCEPTING ENTRIES TO COMPETITIONS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 7 TO 16!
Competition 1: A Short Story with a location in the North of England at the heart of the story. Write a narrative with a place, street, building, past or present as the central element.
Competition 2: A Book Review of any book you choose: fact, fiction, poetry, graphic novel, you name it! Tell us why it’s great, how it affected you and persuade us to read it too.
Submissions are welcomed from individuals and from schools.
The competitions are free to enter. Simply submit your work and make sure it’s accompanied by an entry form. Find everything you need on The Portico Sadie Massey Awards website.
The closing date for both competitions is midnight, Friday 18 March 2022. Find out about this year’s fantastic judges, Ayesha Ansari-Choudhury, Dom Conlon, Ella Otomewo and Hallie Fletcher.

Prizes: Everyone who enters receives a gift pack including a notebook, and bookmark. Prizes for winners include book bundles by authors associated with the PSM Awards (a selection can be viewed in the Portico shop & website), gift packs, and an invitation to choose a book from the Portico Library Collection that is in need of restoration. Book plates with the winner’s name will be placed on the book’s title page, there will be a tour of the library and refreshments. 15/16 year old winners receive supportive and inspiring writing mentorships.
