Manchester Metropolitan University’s Centre for Place Writing & Women Talk Place present ‘Thinking Like A Mountain’, writing and evoking mountain landscapes.

This international seminar series will feature experts on evoking mountain environments in-conversation with Dr Helen Mort (winner of the 2022 Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature).

March 16th, 7pm – Dr Simone Kenyon and Henry Iddon on non-verbal, embodied ways of performing mountain landscapes

May 24th – 7pm – Faye Latham on erasure poetry and subverting texts (in-conversation and online workshop)

June 1st, 7.30pm (note later start time) – Professor Abbie Garrington and Dr Kerri Andrew in conversation: gender, mountaineering, ways of noticing.

June 22nd, 7pm – Professor Stephen Slemon and Professor Zac Robinson (University of Alberta, Canada) in conversation on collaborative writing and contested / reclaimed histories.
