Manchester Literature Festival
One of the founding members of alternative rock band Sonic Youth, Thurston Moore’s memoir Sonic Life is fuelled by his passion for music and art. It takes us from Thurston’s teen years as a music obsessive in small-town Connecticut, to New York’s East Village in 1978, to headlining festivals alongside some of his icons. At this special in conversation, Thurston will discuss his journey to becoming one of the most influential musicians of his generation and his unwavering love of music. Come along and hear about thirty years of creation, experimentation and wonder.
Thurston is a founding member of Sonic Youth who recorded fifteen studio albums including Sister, Goo and Dirty. The band’s album Daydream Nation was chosen by the Library of Congress for historical preservation in the National Recording Registry in 2006. Thurston is involved in publishing and poetry and teaches at the Summer Writing Workshop at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. Sponsored by The Midland Hotel.
Manchester City of Literature is committed to inclusion and accessibility for everyone.
