Tony Curry has been host of Word Central for its 5-year run. He is a performance poet, playwright, workshop facilitator, soundsmith and enabler who curates literature-in-the-community projects with a specific leaning towards mental health and wellbeing across the north-west. His solo shows and plays have been performed at Manchester’s Royal Exchange and Contact theatres, and his work has been exhibited at the city’s art galleries and museum. His third poetry collection, We Kid Ourselves, was published in April 2021 and is available in paperback and eBook.
Tony Kinsella is a stand-up comedian, poet and writer who was Salford Star’s Performer of the Year 2019. As part of music-comedy duo The Bootleg Mark Chapmans he was a City Life Comedian of the Year 2004 finalist and has been part of the poetry and music collaboration Bard Company since 2014. He wrote for The Comedy Store for five years as part of a satirical review, The Unbroadcastable Radio Show, which had a Radio 4 pilot. His debut poetry collection, If You Tolerate This Your Brain Cells Will Be Next, was published in 2012, followed by a second volume, Vladimir Putin is in My Kettle, in 2020.
You can book your open mic slot from Noon on Tuesday 29th June via mail@flapjackpress.co.uk. NB Open mic slots are 3 minutes per performer. Performance slots are allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis from the stated booking day. If they are already filled you will be offered a space on the reserve list.
