We wanted to make enjoying these festivities as easy as possible (including the digital brochure with the full programme to download below) and we realised that attending a venue one doesn’t know well involves working out how to get there. We know Manchester has good walking and bicycle provisions, but to help further please see below for public transport information for each of the physical venues where the in-person IMLD events are occurring.
They’re in alphabetical order for you and will hopefully help make getting to each event you’re interested in easy.

Tram – Wythenshawe Town Centre Metrolink stop is very close to the library. This station is on the Manchester Airport tram line.
Bus – The Forum Library is within a few metres of Wythenshawe Interchange bus station, so is easily accessed by bus. The routes that use this station include numbers 11, 18, 19, 43, 101, 103, 716, 751, 774.
Train – Being at the very south of Deansgate, Instituto Cervantes is only a few minutes away from Deansgate Train Station
Tram – It is even closer to the Deansgate Metrolink stop.
Bus – Due to its central location, several buses stop very close to Instituto Cervantes including Metroshuttle 1, Metroshuttle 3, and bus routes 33, 63, 84, 255, X50, X58.
Train – Longsight Library is just over 1 mile away from three stations; Bell Vue, Ashburys, Ardwick and Levenshulme.
Bus – Bus routes that pass by or stop within a few minutes walk of Longsight Library include 53, 150, 191, 192, 197, 733, 741, 742, 749 and 797.
Tram – St Peter’s Square Metrolink stop is right outside of Manchester Central Library and nearly all tram routes run through it.
Train – Manchester Oxford Road and Deansgate Stations are both within half a mile of Manchester Central Library and Picadilly is only 0.7 miles.
Bus – Due to its very central location there are many buses that stop within a 3 minute walk on Manchester Central Library, these include Metroshuttle 1 and Metroshuttle 2 and bus routes V1, V2, X50, 33, 34, 34A, 255, 256 and 751.
Train – The nearest train station is Manchester Oxford Road, which is a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bus ride away.
Tram – St Peter’s Square is the nearest tram stop and is a 20 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride away from the Msuseum.
Bus – There are several buses that pass right outside Manchester Museum including 15, 41, 42, 43, 140, 141, 142, 143 and 147. Other nearby routes include V1, V2, 53, 85, 85A, 86, 101, 102, 103, 197, 250, 253, 724, and 725.
Train – Manchester Oxford Road station is closest and is around a 7 minute walk away.
Tram – St Peter’s Square is just over a 10 minute walk away or a 5 minute bus ride.
Bus – Manchester Poetry Library sits on one of the busiest bus routes in Europe, so a lot pass right by including V1, V2, 15, 18, 41, 43, 44, 85, 85A, 86, 111, 147, 191, 250, 256 and 724.
Train – Moss Side Powerhouse Library is around 1.5 miles away from both Manchester Oxford Road and Deasngate stations.
Bus – several bus routes stop between a 2 and 4 minute walk away from Moss Side Powerhouse Library including 15, 101, 102, 103, 720, 728, 739 and 742.
Tram – Monsall Metrolink station is just over 1 mile away from North City Library.
Bus – There are quite a few buses that stop within a 2 minute walk of North City Library including 17, 17A, 18, 52, 53, 162, 704 and 708.
Train – Both Belle Bue and Levenshulme station are around 1 mile away from the Centre.
Bus – Bus routes with stops between a 2-5 minute walk away from the Pakistani Community Centre include 53, 192, 733, 740 and 741.
Train – Salford Crescent Station is just a 10 minute stroll from Pendleton Library (in almost a straight line as well)
Bus – Being so close to a retail centre, there are a lot of buses that stop within a 5 minute walk of the Library, including routes V1, V2, 8, 10, 34, 34A, 36, 37, 38, 52, 53, 70, 74 and 745.
Train – It is around a 20 minute walk to Deansgate startion and Manchester Oxford Road.
Tram – Z-Arts is just over a 20 minute walk away from both Deansgate and Trafford Bar tram stops
Bus – Within a 5 minute walk to Z-Arts there are bus options including 53, 86, 250, 253, 256 and 720.
