Manchester City of Literature shortlisted for two Manchester Culture Awards

9 October 2024 - News
Manchester City of Literature are thrilled to announce that we have been nominated in not one but two categories for the Manchester Culture Awards this year.

Festival of Libraries 2023 has been shortlisted in the Best Event category. The festival programme includes bringing live music, knowledge exchanges, dance and theatre, poetry commissions, Family Friendly activities and much more, all of which was free to take part in across all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester.

The Schools Writing Trail, a citywide writing exhibition featuring 100 pieces of writing, has been shortlisted for the very special Made in Manchester Award. The trail featured some of the very best student writing in Manchester. There were over 100 young writers featured, writing in 12 languages, whose poetry, fiction, and imagination all featured in the exhibition. The Trail was a walkable constellation of young voices connecting community arts centres, schools, universities, and libraries with over 40 schools in Greater Manchester.

Many of our literary partners from the Manchester City of Literature network are also on the shortlist, including Fly On The Wall Press, Commonword, The Portico Library and Z-arts. You can see all categories and the full list of nominees via the link below.

Congratulations to everyone who’s been nominated, and all those working together to make Manchester an exceptional city for arts and culture.

The final results will be announced at the Manchester Culture Awards dinner on the 23rd November 2024.
