Are you a young poet aged 13- 25 from Manchester, who is beginning to break through into the poetry scene with some success in Slam, Spoken Word or page-based work?
There is an opportunity to contribute to a forthcoming book about young poets, their journey and experiences. This opportunity is open to those writing in English and based in Manchester or another UNESCO City of Literature.
Young Poet Stories are working on a manuscript based on their research with young poets for publication by Bloomsbury Publishing in 2024. Becoming a Poet: Young poets’ stories of composition and creative development will include the voices, experiences and draft materials of many exciting young poets from the UK and Internationally. The book will explore issues around the development of young writers’ identities as poets, their influences and mentors, views about poetry, poetry and young people’s mental health, writing routines networks and environments along with guidance on performance and publication opportunities.
If you fit the criteria above and would like to talk further about making a potential contribution to the book, please contact sue.dymoke@ntu.ac.uk. If you are under 18 you will need parental permission to take part.
